Welcome

What is “The Stories of Jakey and Vicky”?

Jakey and Vicky are adorable siblings who share a series of real life experiences, delighting in the everyday situations in which they find themselves. Four charming tales tell the story of one family’s adventures, lovingly written to engage children who may be dealing with similar circumstances.

Small readers can relate to the familiar events, identifying with Jakey as he welcomes his new baby sister to the family and enjoys Nanna’s special visit. The excitement of moving to a new home and Vicky’s first birthday are perfect bedtime stories, sending children off to dreamland with smiles on their faces.

Sounds interesting, I want to get to know more!

Watch the video below to see the first one of the four stories in the book, called Vicky Arrives.

What did others say?

“Mr Cheeky is not usually a fan of sitting still and I was hoping that by some magical happening he’d see the book, become transfixed and sit still for at least half an hour.
We sat down and we read the first of the of the four stories all about a little boy called Jakey whose mummy goes to have a baby, he meets her and they bring her home. The thing that Mr Cheeky liked most ( apart from Jakey being his ‘friend’ and Vicky being his sisters ‘friend’) was that Jakey had to share a room with his baby sister. ‘Me too Mum, I share with Ava too!’ he said. I liked reading it also, I could relate to the story to, in fact anyone who has had a baby and introduced them to an older child could. We read one more story called Nanna’s Visit and it was time to organise homework, baths and dinner.

On the whole the book was well liked everyone commented on what they remembered about the time I had come home with their younger brother or sister. The stories, Moving and Vicky’s Birthday, meant I was asked when they were having their next birthday party, I told them it would probably be around the time it was actually their birthday.

So the book is definitely a hit here. The stories and pictures are perfect for Mr Cheeky and even Little Miss who thinks she is a teenager. It is a hard cover ( which means it will survive Littlest Miss occasionally getting hold of it). I am actually glad the link to buy the book was posted on our Facebook Page and if you want to know more about the book and the special offer of a NAME YOUR PRICE deal then go to Jakey and Vicky books I chose the hardcover and I am happy as my purchase means the Smith Family Foundations Toy and Book Appeal will have a book donated to them for disadvantaged kids. It is a win win really! :)

The two book marks that arrived with it were also a hit! Miss Thinker and Little Miss scored those!

I WAS NOT ASKED TO DO THIS, NOR DID/DO I RECEIVE ANYTHING FOR DOING SO.” Emma A, http://my7littleaustralians.blogspot.com.au/

“Loved your real-life approach to story-telling for children. I have little grandchildren who have had similar experiences to Jakey & Vicky, and I know they would enjoy reading these stories. What a great idea. I think children will relate to the photos and seeing Jakey & Vicky are ‘real people’ like themselves.”  Judi P, grandmother

“I bought the book  for my grandchildren, I just like the look of the book and the story told.” Kevin B, Grandfather

“There are so many children’s books around and a lot of them we just read once and then we never look at them again, but this book the kids want to read again and again. They do not tire of stories that they can relate to and have experienced themselves.I loved that the stories were simply everyday life. My kids love hearing our family stories and this book really taps in to their love of life and the stories that everyday life creates.  The kids feel more connected with their own stories. The stories, like the ones in the book, that are connected to our photo albums.  I would recommend this book to families with young children. Every family will love this book, the stories will be intertwined with your own and the kids will never tire them.”  Nicole M, Mum

“What marvellous journeys  to travel with Jakey and Vicky. Each story takes a child’s perspective of some of life’s influencing experiences. The illustrations are readable allowing childrent to follow the story or read independently. Jakey and Vicky is a must have series for every home, educational and therapeutic bookshelf.” Angela A, Mum

“My daughter Lily and I love reading The Stories of Jakey and Vicky at bedtime. Finding out what cool adventures they are up to is the perfect end to our day.”  Kate Burr, Mum

Who are you?

Inspired by a European children’s book series, Zoltan and Rita Nemeth began writing tales that were based on their own real life ventures. When Jakey wanted to learn more about the process of making books, the parents quickly adopted a can-do attitude and decided they are going to publish the stories.

The book captures the happiness and worries of being a kid, helping children relate to characters that are similar to them.

The Nemeth’s love of children shines through each story, evoking the imagination and joy of childhood. These easy-to-follow plots don’t require long explanations or protection from bad dreams. The Stories of Jakey and Vicky serve as a relaxing end to the day, dissolving stress and transporting readers to a calm, familiar place.

Zoltan and Rita were born in Budapest, Hungary; in 1999 they moved to the USA where their son, Jakey was born. In 2008 the family moved to Brisbane, Australia and soon “Vicky arrived”.The household wouldn’t be complete without their guinea pigs: Punky (featured in the book) and Super, their silkworms and fish.  In their free time the family loves to travel and explore their new home country.
